Huntingdon Wellbeing Hub

Following the success of our National Lottery funded project, Empathetic Communities, we have secured funding thanks to Huntingdon Freemen's Trust to continue our work in Huntingdon and develop it in exciting ways. We will continue to work closely with key local partners in Oxmoor, however we are also able to receive referrals from local schools and other agencies. The drop-in which we run alongside local partners, Moody Mondays, will remain a key part of our offer, however we are now able to accept direct referrals alongside for individual children and families who cannot access the drop-in. We can offer outreach appointments and our key referral criteria is for children and their families who have experienced trauma.

If you want to enquire about support for a child and family in Huntingdonshire, please click here if you are a professional or here if you are a parent/carer. Please know that you can also drop-in to our wellbeing hub in Huntingdon on a Monday (Coneygear Community Centre, 9.15-11.30am, term time only).

A key driver for our new model, after listening to both families and other professionals, is to ensure that we remain available to see children and families quickly so they are able to access local support rapidly following a traumatic event (or whilst they are waiting for more longer-term services).

Whilst we cannot guarantee that this will lead to long-term therapy in all cases, our aim is to meet with children and families rapidly, undertake a holistic assessment alongside them and put a bespoke package of support in place, which could include the following elements: strategies; enrichment activities; casework; therapy.

The process for enquiring about accessing support is as follows

  • Ideally, in the first instance please signpost to Moody Mondays (Coneygear Centre, 9:30-11:30, every Monday during term time)

  • If not possible, please send an enquiry through our website. If you cannot use this form please ring us on 07388 497089.

  • We will meet the family and/or the child/young person, please note we can only work therapeutically with children aged 5 and above.

  • We will use our holistic, panoramic assessment tool to determine how we can support the child/young person/family

  • We will build a package of support based on the family’s needs and the resources available to us.

  • We want to explore how working in this way at the community level works, if children and families can be seen quickly and waiting times reduced, and support be offered holistically.
